Sea of Thieves he’s about to get his own version of the Olympics, thanks to a fan-made tournament. Spuleta, a longtime content creator, has announced the second season of “Spulecup,” and pirates can compete by proving they are the best at a variety of nautical tasks.
For example, in a comprehensive document explaining the challenges, Spuleta explained how a Hide and Seek game will work. Every pirate has to die going to the ghostly Ferry of the Damned, while a judge hides a valuable treasure in the pirate arena in the middle of the Sea of Thieves. Then each team has to find him, without using any aggression, so he cannot shoot his opponents.
Once this is done, everyone heads to the Laguna de los Susurros, where a fleet of rowboats awaits them. Players must choose a member of their crew, who will participate in a row boat race to the Sanctuary Outpost. Then there is a fishing competition, where everyone tries to catch the best fish and pack them in boxes to deliver to the judge. A final individual contest tests the pirates’ balance. After everyone is wrecked and in low health, they climb to the top of a galleon and swing along the sails to test their balance.
Winners get Obsidian cosmetics, which are black and green accessories that are typically only earned from special broadcasts or rare events. The competition will begin on March 20 and will be streamed on Twitch. The second season is also the first time the Spulecup is open to players from around the world.
Sea of Thieves is currently in the middle of its first season, with Shroudbreaker cosmetics. The game has just reached its third anniversary, with February 2021 marking the game’s most successful month to date.
