Capcom has warned that there is a Resident Evil Village phishing scam that claims to offer fans early access to Resi’s next game.
In an email to the press (via Kotaku), Capcom warned that emails are circulating falsely claiming they contain early access invites for Resident Evil Village. However, these emails are instead “phishing attempts by an unauthorized third party”, using the “unanswered (at) capcom (dot) com” email address.
The developer advises that if you receive one of these emails, you do not reply or download any attachments, but instead “delete the message immediately.”
Terrifying prospect
While early access to Resident Evil Village is tempting, Capcom will unfortunately not offer it. However, if you want to test the next Resi before its release on May 7, you can try the free demo.
The Resident Evil Maiden demo is currently only available on PS5, however Capcom has previously said that it will release another free cross-platform demo this “spring,” so we look forward to it in the coming weeks.
It’s unclear if the cross-platform demo will also be Maiden or a brand new one. But this demo is likely to hit the other confirmed Resident Evil Village platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
If you’ve already seen the demo, don’t worry, there’s not much left to wait for Resident Evil Village and its Big Lady.
