The distortion correction looks great. Ultrawide are now shitty quality if you go for a higher field of view and a lower field of view if you go for a higher quality. If they fix it, it will be fine. Sw distortion correction is terrible.
Or at least someone else will implement it correctly.

Looking at this new Model 9, it will be the flagship. And it won’t have expandable storage.
With the amazing OP camera technology developed, it will be a waste not to capture photos in that 12-bit RAW.
I’d rather have 1TB of expandable storage for my leisure photos and videos on the go (OTG pun?) So I can easily remove the card for backup, reassembly and reuse.

I mean you’re right, it would make a lot of sense to improve auto mode using these features instead of going through all the software post-processing, but I guess these new frame stacking features don’t support what the guys at Xperia expect from their sensor and that’s autofocus speed and exposure madness.

Lens distortion is a major problem in mobile phones, so it looks really interesting.

What other major OEMs do is partner with a well-known photography company to take their photography to the next level. Computational photography has limitations and that is why Google seeks to partner with Sony. If Samsung has partners with another well-known photography company, your camera’s calculations would have improved well.

Basically, OnePlus paid Hasselblad $ 150 million for reflection and shadow correction, something it would do in Photoshop or Google Snapseed in 2 minutes.

So much hype. They should work to influence DXOMark, that would go further. On a more serious note, I don’t think your camera will improve much. Most of the improvements in smartphone photography will concern CFA and computational photography. And staggered sensors help minimize motion blur. That is what they have been created for, specifically.

I’m not really interested in the OP9’s camera system.
What’s interesting is how Sony now uses DOL-HDR and dual native ISO for their smartphone sensors, which could mean they could finally integrate computational photography into auto mode without sacrificing the ability to quickly capture photos with their phones.
5364For a phone company, making a good camera system is not just about getting the latest technology, but years of experience and research and development, so I am not very excited about this camera system, as I am sure which will be “Meh”.
