Apple is discontinuing the iMac Pro desktop computer. Currently, the company sells the basic configuration on its website with a sign that reads “While supplies last.” You can no longer configure the computer and the default settings are the only option available.

Apple discontinues iMac Pro

This change was first noticed by 9to5Mac. Apple later confirmed that it will discontinue the product after supplies to The Verge run out.

The iMac Pro was a more powerful version of the standard iMac. It featured workstation-grade Intel Xeon processors with ECC memory and AMD Radeon Pro graphics. The iMac Pro also featured improved cooling performance over the standard iMac and came in a unique space gray color with matching accessories.

Apple is expected to revamp the standard iMac with a new design and a switch to the ARM-based Apple Silicon sometime this year. This new machine is likely to easily outperform all currently available iMac setups.

Released in 2017, the iMac Pro was always a stopgap solution before the company started working on the Mac Pro. Now that both the iMac and Mac Pro are expected to switch to Apple Silicon, there’s not much need for an iMac Pro separated on the line.
