Microsoft Teams you will soon receive a series of updates designed to make online collaboration easier, both between colleagues and with external partners.
Introduced at Microsoft’s annual Ignite conference, these updates include a new service called Microsoft Teams Connect, which will allow users to invite external parties (such as customers and partners) to a single shared channel rather than add them as guests of the meeting. net.
According to Microsoft, the service will allow external contacts to take advantage of all Equipment collaboration capabilities, including chat, meetings, document co-authoring, etc., while giving the host organization tighter control over how users access data.
“Each shared channel will appear within a user’s primary Teams tenant alongside existing teams and channels, providing convenient access within their current workflow,” the company added.
Microsoft Teams Connect is currently in private preview, but is set to be available to all users later this calendar year.
Present in Microsoft Teams
In addition to cross-organizational channels, Teams is also getting a new set of features designed to “help presenters deliver content more professionally and provide meeting participants with dynamic experiences.”
Instead of just sharing the desktop when it’s time to make a presentation, Teams users can now make use of a Powerpoint integration that brings together your slides, meeting chat, and meeting participants in one view.
By making it easier for the presenter to interact with participants, Microsoft expects PowerPoint Live in Teams to provide a richer and more engaging meeting experience.
Meanwhile, later this month, there are a range of new presenter settings that allow users to reconfigure video streaming to better suit the presentation style.
For example, Featured mode pushes the presenter’s video stream in front of the slide deck, Reporter presents content over the speaker’s shoulder, while Side-by-Side places shared materials next to the presenter’s stream.
Finally, Microsoft will offer a new dynamic view that automatically optimizes the layout of the different elements of the meeting (for example, gallery of participants, shared content, etc.), which should make a view less cluttered. This feature will be widely available at the end of the month.
