Diablo 2 Resurrected was just announced at BlizzCon 2021, and Blizzard now reveals the PC requirements for the incoming remaster and confirms that the mods will be supported, to boot.
What kind of system will you need to run Diablo 2 Resurrected, then? Fortunately, the requirements are not particularly demanding from a contemporary gaming perspective, although the recommended specification, for 1080p resolution, requires 16GB of system memory (a growing trend these days).
Here are all the PC spec requirements.
Minimum requirements (720p)
- YOU: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i3-3250 or AMD FX-4350
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 / AMD Radeon HD 7850
- Disc space: 30 GB
Recommended Requirements (1080p)
- YOU: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT
- Disc space: 30 GB
As you can see, there is nothing traumatic here and in fact the minimum requirements are very straightforward, although keep in mind that this is for running the game at 720p resolution, which will not look very good of course.
Diablo 2 Resurrected up the graphical stakes considerably and, as we’ve seen, it will update images with a fresh coat of paint and allow the resolution to be raised to 4K while supporting refresh rates up to 144Hz.
However, there will be a classic mode that will revert to the look of the original sprite-based game (2D), in case you want to go down that path. In addition to the enhanced visuals, Blizzard offers Dolby 7.1 surround sound on the audio side with remastered and re-recorded sound effects.
Happy mod
As Wccftech, which spotted the requirements, also pointed out, mod support for Diablo 2 Resurrected was confirmed on Twitter.
📜 MOD SUPPORT Why would you want to tamper with this hell? Are you some kind of demon? Affliction! Yes, mod support will be here in Diablo II. Please be gentle with a poor old man.February 20, 2021
It’s good to hear that, naturally. We don’t know when all of this will happen, as Blizzard has yet to confirm a release date for Diablo 2 Resurrected, but we do know that it will arrive sometime in 2021.
In the meantime, there are public alpha tests in the near future, and we can keep our fingers crossed that this remaster doesn’t make any of the same mistakes as Warcraft III.
