Some time ago Apple was rumored to be leaning more towards the clamshell-like design of the Galaxy Z for its future foldable iPhone. It was also rumored that the device could also be compatible with the Apple Pencil accessory. However, according to a new report from Digitimes (via GSMArena), it has been suggested that LG will be the one to make the foldable screen for Apple’s rumored iPhone.
The report adds that LG Display, the division responsible for developing and manufacturing display panels, will work with Apple on a foldable iPhone prototype for now. It has not been confirmed if future iPhones will have foldable OLED manufactured by LG or if the Cupertino firm will adjust it according to its preferences.

LG’s association with Apple is not new. The company has also contributed to the manufacture of display panels for the iPhone 12 models. The South Korean forum recently reported its highest quarterly profit in nearly three years due to increased shipments of new Apple iPhones.
It posted an operating profit of around $ 622 million in the fourth quarter of 2020. Analysts reported an increase in shipments of OLED panels for Apple’s iPhone 12 and higher prices for LCD panels.
It has been said that Apple’s iPhone shipments for the fourth quarter were likely up 21% year-on-year due to the strong performance of the iPhone 12. And stronger sales should extend to LG Displays’ first quarter results as well.
Earlier this year, we also saw LG moving ahead in the display segment by introducing its own roll-up OLED display smartphone. In the past, it has also exhibited roll-up televisions.
