Marvel released a new trailer for “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” during the Super Bowl, giving us a fresh take on the show that we can expect to see in March.
- The show debuts on Disney + on March 19, about a month from now.
- The trailer shows Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson / Falcon (Anthony Mackie) teaming up for the first time after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” We see Wilson wearing Captain America’s shield, which he also earned at the end of “Endgame.”

Context
“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” was intended to be the first Marvel series project to hit Disney +, with the original release date being August 2020. However, the pandemic delayed its release, causing it to ” WandaVision “went up on the calendar. Now, we will see “Falcon and Winter Soldier” a few days after “WandaVision” concludes its execution.
Anything else?
Keep an eye out for this show if you are a Marvel fan. As I wrote for Deseret News, it looks like “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” will bring back some familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Falcon and the Winter Soldier” writer Derek Kolstad recently said on the “Script Apart” podcast that the MCU legends could return.
- “What I’m going to say is that there are characters from early Marvel movies that are coming back,” Kolstad said. “We are layering them and reinventing them in a way that will change the structure of the narrative.
It’s still unclear how or when it will happen, but there were some reports earlier this year that Chris Evans would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America, which I wrote about for the Deseret News.
