WASHINGTON, Jan.30 (Xinhua) – NASA and SpaceX target April 20 at the earliest for the launch of the second crew rotation mission with astronauts on a rocket and a US spacecraft from the United States to the Station. International Space (ISS), NASA said on Friday.
The mission, called Crew-2, will launch four astronauts aboard a Crew Dragon spacecraft on a Falcon 9 rocket towards the ISS.
NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur will serve as the spacecraft’s commander and pilot, respectively. Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Akihiko Hoshide and European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Pesquet will join as mission specialists, according to NASA.
The mission will lift off from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The crew is scheduled for an extended stay aboard the orbiting laboratory, living and working as part of a seven-member crew.
