Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.1 promises fixes, delivers a bug

Cyberpunk 2077 is without a doubt one of the biggest disasters in recent gaming history, if not the biggest. Long awaited and long overdue, the initial experience for gamers, especially those on consoles, was so horrible that refunds were required and issued left to right. Throughout all the drama and scandal, developer CD Projekt RED promised updates to address those issues. The first big patch just arrived, and like the game itself, it seems to have a mixed reception, depending on where you’re playing.

To be fair, patch 1.1 has a huge list of items that CDPR fixed since the game was first released in December. The main thing is, of course, the performance improvements that should address the stability of the game prone to crashes. As if trying to prove their thoroughness, the developers even listed every fix for every buggy search.

Unfortunately, the fixes also seem to include at least one reported bug that really makes things worse. While patch 1.1 fixes Down on the Street’s issue that Takemura doesn’t call the player at all, PC Gamer reports that it also creates a bug where the character calls the player but doesn’t say anything at all. Unfortunately, that ruins your save game and you lose any progress you’ve made after that point, although there are solutions available, assuming you’re a meticulous saver.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.1 seems to offer most of what it lists, at least for PC and PlayStation consoles. Xbox gamers are reportedly not that happy with the patch as it has very few notable improvements to them. In fact, the changelog only lists a generic improvement in memory usage for Microsoft consoles.

That said, this is just one of the big patches the developers promised to address the harsh criticism of the quality of the game, saying that patch 1.1 sets the stage for future fixes. However, those fixes won’t arrive until February, so it will remain a waiting game for those who have yet to surrender and refund the game.
