LG Display announced on January 3 that it will introduce a 48-inch flexible cinematic sound OLED (CSO) display optimized for gaming at CES 2021, starting online on January 11 (US local time).
The flexible 48-inch CSO panel can be freely folded and unfolded using paper-thin organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels. The screen can be folded up to 1000R.
Users can use the flexible screen as a flat screen when watching TV and as a curved screen when playing games. A curved screen provides a consistent viewing distance from center to edge, maximizing viewers’ visual immersion.
This product is loaded with CSO technology that allows the OLED panel to create sounds without a speaker. Users can feel as if the characters on the screen are speaking directly, offering a vivid sense of reality. A curved screen maximizes your sound effects by focusing sounds on users.
In particular, the 48-inch flexible CSO display uses ultra-thin film CSO panel, which is more advanced than the old one. LG Display dramatically reduced the thickness of the drivers, a component that emits sound through vibrant OLED panels, from 9mm to 0.6mm to allow users to enjoy overwhelming sounds.
OLED displays are gaining popularity among gamers as they offer overwhelming performance such as clear, 3D images, a fast response speed of 0.1 ms, and a refresh rate of 120 images per second. They also express natural images without vibrations or interruptions thanks to their wide variable frequency range.
