Palestinian DJ Sama ‘Abdulhadi Arrested After Event
Palestinian DJ Sama ‘Abdulhadi has been arrested and is currently in custody following an event that took place at a historic site in West Bank, which is between Jerusalem and Jericho.
DJ Sama ‘Abdulhadi recently held an event in the city of Ramallah to Prophet Moses, a historical site where many believe that the prophet Musa (Moses) Is buried. She was detained and arrested immediately after the fact Sunday December 27. As videos and images circulated on social media of the event that hosted about 30 people, many criticized the DJ for “desecrating the site”, sparking anger, however, many people claimed that the event did not take place. at the actual burial site, it is a common area for events such as weddings, birthdays and other cultural events.
The situation seems complicated, as many request their release claiming that they received prior authorization from the Palestine Ministry of Tourism to organize an event on the site. According to the request, which you can read here, “The ministry was aware of the type of music that will be played in the concert – techno – and that this concert will be filmed in this archaeological site with Sama Abdulhadi, one of the leading Arab women in techno music in the world”. On the other hand, the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism claims not to have given Abdulhadi permission.
Abdulhadi is still in custody and bail has been denied. More than 78,000 signatures to date have demanded his release.
