We are just around the corner towards 2021, and Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy S21 on January 14. Now we have a fresh take on what to expect from the flagship device.
Samsung has yet to release official photos of the Galaxy S21, so courtesy of Twitter MauriQHD, who claims to have received these images from a friend, we have what could be our first real look at the phone. And the bezels look even thinner than the iPhone 12, without the unsightly notch.
The images offer a clear view of the phone, crediting both what we’ve been hearing and what we’ve seen in rumors and a series of photos submitted by insiders and leaks. The front display features nearly symmetrical bezels that are a bit difficult to see thanks to the censored areas of the leaked photos, but it’s easy to see that this is an extremely stylish-looking flat panel.
The leaker has turned the phone over to show its back as well. It is unclear if the back of the phone is constructed of glass or perhaps plastic. The leaked photo shows a light purple and gold color setting, which appears matte under lighting conditions. There is also a sticker that says “No photos allowed” and “Do not leak information”, but it seems like it’s too late for all those warnings.
For the curious, there’s also a look at the hole-punch camera cutout, confirming that the phone won’t have an under-display camera after all. Still, the cutout is fairly small and inconspicuous, especially with the S21’s remarkably flat surface.
We can get a good look at the phone’s triple camera array though, which looks quite attractive in the real world beyond the renders and up-close images we’ve seen in the past. If the cameras match the specs of the rumored S21, the setup will include a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, a 12MP main sensor, and a 64MP telephoto lens. Android Police previously reported that Samsung will include 100x Space Zoom in addition to laser autofocus in the S21 Ultra in an attempt to curb some of the focus issues from last year’s model.
Although prolific leaker Evan Blass has offered several high-quality photos and versions of the device in the past, seeing a phone like this is still exciting, as it confirms much of what we already suspected. Of course, it looks a lot like what we expected and is quite similar to the Galaxy S20 in many ways, which will likely satisfy fans who liked the previous model.
Samsung has yet to formally announce the Galaxy S21, and it has yet to comment on the rumors about the phone. It is still rushing towards an official presentation on January 14. But if you are interested in buying your own, you can reserve the opportunity to reserve the Galaxy S21 by heading to the Samsung website. There, you can claim your right to “the next galaxy”.
These leaked photos and renderings are all we’ve got so far, though, but it seems we’ve learned just about everything we can about the next smartphone. And from where we are, he certainly looks like an impressive contender so far.
