Fitness tracker ‘OnePlus Band’ reportedly coming in 2021

OnePlus fans have been demanding a smartwatch from the company for years, and 2021 will be the year it finally delivers. However, before that happens, the “OnePlus Band” fitness tracker is reportedly making its debut.

The people of Android Central report that sometime in the first quarter of 2021, OnePlus will launch a fitness tracker which will be called the “OnePlus Band”. This is apparently a separate device from the company’s upcoming smartwatch that offers a basic fitness-focused experience.

This “OnePlus Band” is a competitor to the Xiaomi Mi Band series that we have covered above. Our Damien Wilde called the latest Xiaomi Mi Band 5 a “winning formula” offering good functionality for a very low price. The OnePlus fitness tracker will apparently try to use that same formula priced at around $ 40 or so while using an OLED screen, which offers water resistance and a multi-day battery life while still being able to track basic stats of physical condition.

It’s unclear if this means that OnePlus will announce the fitness tracker and the smartwatch at roughly the same time, but sensibly, this fitness tracker will debut in India first before heading to other regions. The report claims that a January or February launch is possible based on the information received, implying that the fitness tracker could arrive long before the OnePlus 9 launch event.
