The match, added to the result of a high-profile fight between Sevilla and Villarreal, has Barça in a Europa League berth after 15 games.

Sevilla 2-0 Villarreal

Lucas Ocampos converted a penalty in the eighth minute and helped Youssef En-Nesyri’s 53-minute scoreboard as Julen Lopetegui’s men kept the ball at home to pass their visitors.

Sevilla’s 26 points are the same as those of Villarreal, who have played two more games. Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid lead the league with 32 points.

Barcelona 1-1 Eibar

Ousmane Dembélé’s redemption tour played again at Camp Nou on Tuesday when the French winger scored the second-half tie for Barça without Messi.

Martin Braithwaite missed a penalty in the eighth minute and then VAR disallowed a goal in 20 minutes.

Former Middlesbrough player Kike put the visitors ahead in the 57th minute, but the lead lasted just 10 minutes when a Junior Firpo cross cut through the 18th for Dembélé to cut the goal.

Dembélé, 23, has just come out of a hamstring injury and now has five goals and two assists in 621 minutes this season. He made only nine appearances last season.

Barcelona’s 25 points in 15 games are good for sixth place, one point behind three teams and seven behind the Madridistas.
