Pak to reduce import duties on raw materials by 6% from January 1

Pakistan has decided to reduce the import tariff on raw materials by 6 percent as of January 1, the adviser to the prime minister of trade and investment, Abdul Razak Dawood, recently informed the minister of industries and trade of the province of Punjab, Mian Aslam Iqbal. Dawood solicited suggestions from industry representatives on long-term planning for industrialization.

Dawood was meeting with Punjab industrialists and businessmen about their problems.

He urged the business community to benefit from the government’s temporary economic refinancing facility for imported machinery and the federal government’s Rs 100 billion plan will continue until March 31, according to Pakistani media reports.

Iqbal said a mapping has been done to establish new industries in Punjab. New economic centers will also be developed in the province, including four special economic zones.
