Over the past few weeks, a lot of Fortnite leaks have surfaced, and now one shows an apparent new weapon mod slot that is currently being tested.
Fortnite has recently come out with another new leak, showing off what appears to be a new “weapon mod slot” that could allow players to grant weapon accessories / abilities. This could be great news, considering that it could completely change the way weapons work in the game.
Lately, there have been a lot of leaks regarding new skins for game players, as well as a new weapon that shoots gnomes and shoots explosive trolls into the sky. While that in itself is a bit strange, nothing has been as big as a possible weapon mod.
Based on the new leak that was recently posted on Twitter from the leaker. HYPEX (via Rant game), it appears that Epic Games is testing a new “Weapon Mod Slots” mechanic. Provided Development team. It’s not exactly clear how the new mechanic might work, but there are multiple theories as to what it could mean for the game. One possibility is that this would give Provided Players have the opportunity to add accessories to their weapons, eliminating the need for dedicated weapons that already have certain skins. Another idea is that fans think it could give the ability to make weapons look how players want them to look, adding different perks and abilities that will make them unique to other weapons in games.

While the latest weapon mod idea already exists to some extent in “Save the World” mode, where players can create custom weapons, this would be the first time it would be implemented in the main game world of Fortnite. The possibility of removing weapon rarities also exists entirely if the new weapon mod is what fans theorize it could be. However, since exotic weapon rarity was only just introduced to the game, it would be highly unlikely that Fortnite he would just get rid of him like that.
As Fortnite has been incorporating more and more features recently, such as the new subscription service or any of the collaborations that it has recently been doing with big pop culture icons, it’s not surprising that developers are constantly adding new features like this. If this leak can be trusted, it would be a pretty big change for the scope of Fortnite, and what the game could bring in the future. However, since nothing has been confirmed yet, players will have to wait and see.
