Samsung has yet to officially confirm the launch event, but at this point, we are only a couple of weeks away from the debut of the Galaxy S21 series. As the January 14 reveal nears, more leaks are coming out with the latest spec dump implying that the Galaxy S21 may lack a microSD card slot as we can see all colors well too.
WinFuture came out over the Christmas holidays with another big leak detailing the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 + in their entirety. The leak confirmed the screen sizes, camera specs, battery details, and more specs we’ve seen before. In this leak, however, we also get a couple of new details.
On the one hand, this leak shows that the Galaxy S21 + will support the ultra-wideband (UWB) radio found in the Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 2, but the base Galaxy S21 won’t.
This leak also notably lacks microSD support on a Galaxy S21 device. While this power-user favorite feature may well remain in the S21 family, it’s a bit strange that the materials these specs were drawn from lack any mention of expandable memory. This wouldn’t be the first time Samsung ditched the slot either, as the Galaxy S6 lacked microSD support before the company brought it back a year later in the S7. Most notably, the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 20 lacked support, as did the Galaxy Z Fold 2. With those recent omissions in mind, it seems entirely possible that Samsung is saying goodbye to microSDs in the Galaxy S21.
Finally, the other big news from this leak is another clear look at each color variant of the Galaxy S21. The renders obtained by WinFuture show off the gray, white, pink and purple colors of the Galaxy S21 while showing the silver, black and purple options of the S21 +. Personally, that “Phantom Purple” colourway is my favorite by far.
However, in particular, we also saw these colors in a previous leak.
