French champion Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has fired German coach Thomas Tuchel, French sports daily L’Equipe and German daily Bild reported on Thursday.

PSG has yet to confirm Tuchel’s dismissal, but he is said to be in talks with former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Tuchel, who led PSG to the Champions League final in August that they lost to Bayern Munich, oversaw a 4-0 home win against Racing Strasbourg less than 24 hours ago when the club moved to a point from Ligue 1 leader Olympique Lyonnais.

The 47-year-old was named PSG’s head coach in 2018 and has won two Ligue 1 titles alongside a national quadruple in his second season at the club.

While PSG are not dominating Ligue 1 this season as they have in previous years, Tuchel has led them to the knockout stages of the Champions League, where they will face Barcelona after finishing at the top of a group that it included RB Leipzig and Manchester United.

If reports are confirmed, less than three months after the final loss to Bayern Munich in Lisbon, the German has become the first PSG manager to leave mid-season since Antoine Kombouare was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti at December 2011.
