The more affordable but excellent Galaxy S20 FE is one of our favorite Samsung phones of the year, which disappointed us a bit by not being included in Samsung’s initial Android 11 launch. Now, Samsung is starting to roll out Android 11 and One UI 3.0 on the Galaxy S20 FE.
As reported by SammobileSome users are getting Android 11 on the Galaxy S20 FE starting today. The update carries build number G780FXXU1BTL1 and comes with the December 2020 security patch. Previous rumors set a date this month, but other reports claimed January. In any case, we are pleased to see that Android 11 is already heading to the $ 699 smartphone.
The capture? So far, it appears that this update is only rolling out in Russia. Its scope is likely to expand in the coming days, but at this time we simply don’t have any information available.
Update 12/24: Good news! It seems that the Android 11 update of the Galaxy S20 FE was released globally, at least on the unlocked models. Sammobile notes updates available in more than a dozen countries, although carrier support may still delay the update for your model.
With the Android 11 update, the S20 FE picks up changes from Google, including new notification categories, better media handling, and also bubbles for chat apps. Samsung’s skin gets some pretty major design tweaks too. Once the update hits the US, we’ll have a better idea of the changes coming specifically for FE.
