Filmmaker Peter Jackson just released a sneak peek of the documentary The Beatles Get Back. The video begins with Jackson telling the audience that 56 hours of invisible footage has been the source material for the documentary.

Jackson clarifies that this is not a trailer or a sequence of the film, but a montage that shows the spirit of the film. The footage is set to the “Get Back” audio from The Beatles latest album.

For years, it was said that the breakup of the band was difficult enough for all the Beatles. But this documentary paints a different picture suggesting that to the end, the Fab Four had fun making their music and even Lennon and McCartney loved each other’s company. George seems to be having a good time here too.

In the YouTube description, Peter Jackson says: “We wanted to give Beatles fans around the world a Christmas present, so we put together this five-minute preview of our upcoming theatrical film ‘The Beatles: Get Back’. We hope it brings a smile to everyone’s faces and much-needed joy at this difficult time. “

In a previous interview with the AP, Jackson had said that there are “moments of drama” but “none of the discord” with which Let it Be has been associated all these years. It was previously reported that the documentary will also feature the famous rooftop concert, which was the last time The Beatles played together in public.

The footage used by Peter Jackson was previously used by director Michael Lindsay-Hogg for the documentary Let it Be which was released shortly after the band’s breakup and has long been viewed as the saga of their breakup.

Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison, have been cooperating with Peter Jackson for this documentary. In an interview with Radio X Canada, McCartney said: “I know people have been looking at the (unpublished) footage. And someone was talking to me the other day and said, ‘The general feeling is very happy and very uplifting. It’s like a group of guys making music and enjoying it. ‘

The Beatles Get Back will be released in August 2021.
