Cyberpunk 2077 players report that if their save files get too large, they get corrupted. According to a report, if the saved file exceeds 8MB, the players cannot load it and receive an error message. The long awaited action RPG title from CD Projekt Red has become quite infamous due to the numerous bugs that have been reported online since the game’s launch. The company has already released two revisions since its launch on December 10. In a recent development, Sony removed the game from the PlayStation Store after several bug reports and disappointing performance from the console.
According to information shared on the Reddit and CD Projekt RED forums, Cyberpunk 2077 has an 8MB size limit on save files. Users whose file size exceeds the limit receive a message that their save file is corrupted and cannot be uploaded. The saved file size increases if a user has collected too many items and crafting supplies. It is quite strange that an RPG that is full of loot and collecting items has such a problem.
The developers of Cyberpunk 2077 (Xbox Series X Review | PS4 Review) have responded to the issue on the CD Projekt-owned GOG.com support page. The developers say that if the saved file is damaged, it cannot be recovered. In this case, users can use an older save file to continue playing and try to keep fewer items. “If you have used the item duplication error, please upload a save file that is not affected by it,” the developers said, adding that the save file size limit could be increased in one of the future patches.

The developers have already released two revisions: 1.04 and 1.05, on various platforms since the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. Since the game has so many bugs, players started receiving refunds even after playing beyond the typical two-hour game window. Cyberpunk 2077 later Announced this on Twitter, saying that players can get a refund on their digital copy.
Sony recently removed Cyberpunk 2077 from its PlayStation Store and is offering full refunds for all players who have purchased the game through the PS Store. Microsoft is also now offering refunds to players who bought the game from the Microsoft Store, although it hasn’t removed the game like Sony did. Additionally, the Microsoft Store has added a warning message stating that gamers may experience performance issues when playing this game on Xbox One consoles.
Although the developers and the game itself seem to be on sticky ground, Cyberpunk 2077 recently tweeted of its official identifier that it will release “two big patches” in January and February to address issues facing gamers on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The most recent hotfix for consoles addresses issues related to a large number of individual mission-related bugs, such as non-player character (NPC) disappearance, incorrect geometry, mechanics and more. There are some improvements in the game, such as reaction times for NPCs taking cover, and visual bug fixes include NPCs posing on T, HDR changes, and UI overlay issues, among others.
