Jurgen Klopp insists he is not “over the moon” in Liverpool’s 7-0 defeat of Crystal Palace.
The Premier League champions will see the top of the pile at Christmas for the third year in a row after their the biggest away win in the top flight at the Saturdaand.
Klopp’s team enters the festive period with a five-point lead at the top, while their local rivals Everton are currently in second place.
But while the Reds coach was pleased with the way his team displayed itself at Selhurst Park, he still refuses to be swayed by the result.
He said, “Everything is nice; overcoming difficult problems in the first half with counterattacks, fighting very hard, finishing to the maximum, keeping the ball on the right track, using precision.
“The boys did very well. It is a fun season. We lost 7-2 [at Aston Villa], now we win 7-0. At least now we can cancel the goal difference.
“I do not feel satisfaction. I’m happy right now, but it doesn’t make sense to be on the moon.
“I don’t really think about being first at the table; I am happy that we won the game. “
Takumi Minamino finally opened his Premier League account for Liverpool with a well-executed goal to put the visitors ahead in three minutes.
The Japanese flourished in a more advanced role than his normal midfield position, but Klopp praised his performance and versatility after the game.
“If you play for us in midfield, you need offensive skills,” he added.
“Takumi can play there. He played a great game today, a good ending, it’s a good time [for him].
“I saw him in the locker room then and he had a smile all over his face.”
Mohamed Salah was also involved in the seven-goal blowout and scored a substitute double that elevated him to the Premier League’s top scorer.
But Klopp said the Egyptian was rested due to a heavy workload and did not seem concerned about an interview. suggesting that I would appreciate moving to Spain.
