“The egregious EU sanctions unfairly punish Ethiopia for waging a just war, a war that not only saved Ethiopia from total disintegration …” The Queen of Sheba (writes anonymously)

According to the spokeswoman for the European Commission, Ana Pisonero-Hernández, support for Ethiopia will be withheld until five conditions for aid are met. The last of the five conditions warned that “lines of communication and media access to Tigray must be fully restored.”
In World War II, the allied powers clashed and severely annihilated the Nazi and fascist Axis powers led by Adolf Hitler, who fantasized about dominating the world. However, the war claimed the lives of approximately 75 million people, including about 20 million in the former Soviet Union alone. The world pays unparalleled gratitude and tribute to the Allied Powers for their bravery and sacrifices, which can continue for eternity.
Both powers deployed all weaponry known to mankind without reservation, resulting in a tragedy of biblical proportions. The United States, which was preemptively attacked at Pearl Harbor, dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki that completely annihilated Japan, one of the Axis countries, subsequently ending the war.
Following the conclusion of the war, the victorious Allied powers brought the leaders of the defeated Axis forces to justice by establishing what is known as the Nuremberg trial, which imposed punishments that included death by hanging. They then devised a Marshal Plan to rehabilitate the countries, both the Axis and the Allied Powers, which were devastated by the war.
Except for a few fringe entities, the world has overwhelmingly celebrated the winners and applauded the efforts of war and reconstruction. The Allied Powers were never denounced or censured for the demolished infrastructure or the civilians they attacked, including those killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in their quest for the just war.
Fast forward to 2020
On November 3, 2020, the TPLF Axis Forces attacked the Ethiopian Allied Forces of the Northern Command with “thunderous” speed. Although the TPLF clique first accused the Commando of unleashing the war, one of its top leaders, bombastic but foolish, admitted in a televised interview otherwise. The leader also compared the cowardly assault, while the army slept, with similar acts carried out by the Israeli special forces.
The Axis forces of the clique massacred both the army and civilians indiscriminately, including the My-Kadra genocide, which mainly targeted the Amhara. However, the fortunes of the war rapidly changed when the Cabal Axis Forces were defeated by the allied federal forces at the speed of light. While pursuing him, the cowardly Axis Forces looted and destroyed infrastructure (airfields, schools, power lines, communication towers, storage depots) and looted vehicles, equipment, banks and gold bars.
The EU directive
As one of five conditions for releasing suspended funds, the EU ordered that “lines of communication and media access to Tigray be fully restored.” To be sure, the lines of communication and the media were not only destroyed by the TPLF clique, but were also criminally sabotaged in Mekelle, as Ethio Telecom’s CCTV footage has clearly shown.
The EU directive is absolutely scandalous, if not really bizarre and pointless, as it is intended to penalize the Allied Forces for the acts of the defeated Axis Forces of the clique that dismantled, destroyed and looted infrastructure, equipment and installations.
Just to be safe, Ethiopia sets its own development priorities in terms of where, how, why and to what extent it builds them within its own territories, without being told when and who gets electricity, water, roads, in this case, telephone and communication services. It’s something to help support a country’s development effort, but entirely different to arrogantly prescribe regional service delivery and development locations in Ethiopia. The ugly head of this blatant colonial act, disguised as social justice and partnership for development, must be beheaded without delay.
Pisonero-Hernandez also reported that the decision “does not affect EU humanitarian programs on the ground or other development actions.” When a country is coming out of a war, that decision is just strange, probably even unprecedented. One may also wonder if this is not in contradiction to the undue sympathy that the Axis Forces of the clique continue to enjoy because such a decision does not seem to understand that a short euro in Ethiopia is a short euro in Tigray.
Oh by the way, the EU may want to know that there are at least five times as many Amhara today and, at one point, 10 times as many Oromos in the same situation as the Tigrayans. Therefore, the EU should stop shedding crocodile tears on behalf of the clique, its antics and paid operatives.
In conclusion
The egregious EU sanctions unfairly punish Ethiopia for waging a just war, a war that saved Ethiopia not only from total disintegration, but also from a huge potential crisis in the Horn of Africa, with implications for Europe and the world. The ugly face of injustice and double standards couldn’t be more stark.
The Ethiopian diaspora is known to send around $ 4 billion in remittances. That is comparable, if not more, to the total number of development packages the country receives. To put the amount the EU withheld into perspective, this would mean a fraction of remittances that could be effectively exceeded by actively mobilizing Ethiopians around the world.
The EU may want to push its funds, today and tomorrow, wherever it wants. Ethiopia will never succumb to a threat when it comes to its sovereignty and independence. No amount of pressure from the EU or its member states or other facilitators of the Axis cabal forces would force it to give in to this blatant injustice.
As Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed recently said in his speech to parliamentarians, Ethiopia’s development partners must make a clear distinction between hunger and honor. Ethiopia, in its history of thousands of years, always chose the latter, not the former.
