The Cyberpunk 2077 console offering has been a huge source of controversy since its arrival at the end of last week, with widespread reports that the long-awaited game is more or less unplayable on the PS4, Xbox One, and One S base consoles.
Frustrated gamers have taken it upon themselves to developer CD Projekt for delivering console versions of Cyberpunk 2077 that are plagued with unspeakable graphical issues and game-crashing bugs.
Now, in response to the outcry from PS4 players, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced the removal of Cyberpunk 2077 from its PlayStation Store and is offering full refunds to those who purchased the game through its online store.
“SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin offering a full refund for all players who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 through the PlayStation Store,” said the official statement from Sony, which continued to state that “SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.”
“Once we have confirmed that you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 through the PlayStation Store, we will begin to process your refund,” Sony said, further explaining that “the completion of the refund may vary depending on your payment method and financial institution.”
It’s clear that Sony is taking the matter very seriously, as the move also prevents PS4 Pro and PS5 players from purchasing the game digitally, despite the fact that those versions are much more stable.
CD Projekt has since apologized for the condition of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and has promised to “fix bugs and glitches and improve the overall experience.”
