Xbox One, PS4, Steam and EGS

So Cyberpunk 2077 it’s a disaster on Xbox One and PS4. It’s also not great on Xbox Series X or PS5. It’s a disaster on some PCs too, but overall it’s a different scene. Developer CD Projekt Red apologized this morning and said it would be working to improve the game with two major patches, one in January and one in February. However, if you want to get off the train before then, the developer has said that you are on board to receive refunds.

Below are instructions for all platforms you may have purchased on. Here’s an important and important note, especially for platforms or retailers that could be more troublesome. If you are having trouble obtaining a refund, you should contact CD Projekt Red directly at [email protected].

That email address was only published today, so we’ll see how effective the developer is in helping people get their refunds. However, it certainly can’t hurt, and you’ll want to contact that address if you can’t get your refund by other means.

Let’s look at each platform.

Xbox Live: This shouldn’t be that bad. Microsoft gives refunds up to 14 days after purchase, and you should be able to request and get it without too much trouble. Head over to the Xbox support page, log into your account, and follow the steps. The page notes that submitting an application does not guarantee a refund, but I assume that Cyberpunk 2077 requests are accelerating.

PlayStation Network: While Sony’s rebate system is not the easiest to work with overall, people report that it has, in fact, been granting rebate requests for Cyberpunk 2077, so you can try to get yours on this site here.

Officially, you can request a refund within 14 days if you haven’t started downloading it or “the content is faulty.” If people have received refunds, it must mean that Cyberpunk 2077 at least sometimes it’s considered faulty, so it’s definitely worth a try. The PSN system is not simple and you will have to go through some obstacles, but it is definitely possible.

Steam: Steam’s digital refund policy is generally pretty good to work with – I got some for whatever reason and never had a problem. Go to Steam Help, sign in and select Cyberpunk 2077 from the menu. From there, you can make your requests.

Officially, Steam gives refunds for games that you have owned for less than 14 days and played for less than 2 hours. You can still request a refund if you played more than 2 hours, however it only needs to be approved manually. And I feel like this will not be a problem.

Epic Games: You’ll want to log into your Epic Games account here, then click on your account and go to transactions. Expand the list to Cyberpunk 2077 and you should be able to request a refund if it is within the standard 14 day, 2 hour parameter.

As with Steam, that is the automatic option. If you’re outside of that window, Epic says you can select “contact us” at the bottom of this page and fill out a form. You can read the full policy here.

Other retailers: If you obtained a physical edition of this game from another retailer, you will have to go through the process dictated by the retailer you worked with. In most cases, you will have a hard time getting a full refund for an open game. This is likely to be one of those cases where you’ll have to give CD Projekt Red email a spin.
