A word of caution to avoid Cyberpunk 2077’s actively damaging skill buff

While I’ve generally been enjoying my time with Cyberpunk 2077, despite all its glitches on the console, sometimes you come across something so absurd that you have to stop and write a full article on how stupid it is. And that’s where we are today.

While I was going full blast, a full open combat rampager for my version of V, in the stealth tree there was an ability that interested me, the ability to throw knives.

Now throwing knives is of course something you can get in a lot of different video games, but here, this is a skill that can simultaneously waste 1-3 skill points, while Besides destroying valuable equipment. Woohoo!

So what’s the deal?

Gaining the ability to throw knives through this ability means that you are throwing confused fight knives. There is no special type of throwing knife that I have found in the game yet.

Okay, but the problem is that after throwing a knife, I can’t raise the knife again. Not embedded in a person you killed, not in the ground. Gone, no matter the rarity. I have heard stories of people throwing blue and purple knives only to lose them immediately before realizing this was the case, even if they could literally see them on the ground in front of them. It is unclear if this is a bug or was intentional, but this is how it works.

So in theory, I guess the idea is that you are supposed to buy knives for a few hundred swirls at a time or make them to use for this and stack them in your inventory. All of which is stupid and wasteful.

In the end, this skill can waste not just one skill point, but at least three with another perk that improves damage from knives thrown twice, plus it can make you lose rare, epic, or legendary knives that you might not realize. that you would destroy if he threw them.

This is, without exaggeration, one of the dumbest skill buffs I’ve ever seen in a video game. Games have been giving us throwing knives for how long? AND this How does Cyberpunk work? You got to be kidding. I understand that the game has bigger problems than this, and yet losing a buff point on an actively damaging ability will cause a lot of regret to people, not to mention losing any knife you throw before realizing it. Hence this warning.

Don’t get me wrong, holding on knives and slicing enemies with them is one of the most OP things in the game, in addition to all the other blades, which I have fully specified on. But this ability? Hilariously mean and terrible in a way that, frankly, I’ve never seen before.

To update: At the suggestion of many people, I will warn you about other detrimental benefit too.

This is the tech manufacturing tree that automatically dismantles garbage. Early in the game when money is tight this can cost you a lot of cash and sometimes you get junk items that are meant be sold for a lot of money, and that eliminates them too. Maybe later in the game, when money is more frequent and you need more crafting materials, you can get this, but don’t get it early.
