Sephiroth joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and nearly kills Mario

Then Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Cloud Strife and Sephiroth will fight in a new setting: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo to add Sephiroth to Smash Bros. roster of fighters in December, announced at Thursday’s Game Awards.

Sephiroth was announced via a trailer in which he nearly murdered Mario, with Mario’s monkey saving him from an impalement from Sephiroth’s Masamune sword. The video also showcased Sephiroth’s in-game repertoire, including the hint of an ultimate attack in which he transforms into Safer Sephiroth.

Sephiroth is the fourth character to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this year, following Byleth from Fire Emblem, Min Min from Arms in June, and Steve from Minecraft (with Alex, Zombie, and Enderman as outfit options) in October.

Sephiroth, Min Min and Steve are part of the Fighter Pass Vol. Of the Switch game. 2, a collection of six new fighters scheduled to be added to Smash Bros. Ultimate. Following the inclusion of Sephiroth, there are three fighters to add from Fight Pass Vol. 2. They will be added throughout 2021, the game’s creator said.

After the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in December 2018 with 74 characters, the first Fighter Pass added Joker from Persona 5, Hero from Dragon Quest, Banjo and Kazooie from Banjo and Kazooie, Terry from Fatal Fury and Byleth.

Sephiroth was last seen in Final Fantasy 7 Remake in May, which received universal praise upon its release. After Smash Bros., he will be the main villain in the sequel: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.
