Katycats, we’re going to eat tonight. Maybe. This morning Taylor Swift announced that Increasingly, the “sister album” to your blocking surprise folklore, will fall at midnight. One of the tracks is very interestingly titled “Champagne Problems”. Which, as EVERYONE should know, is also a 2020 Katy Perry single Smile.
Since I was 13 years old, I am excited to turn 31 because it is my lucky number backwards, that’s why I want to … https://t.co/hqWj7dnl4y

What does that mean? You have to believe that Easter Egg Master Taylor Swift is aware that the words “Champagne Trouble” immediately remind her of her former rival. Swift and Perry fought for years, and the breakup inspired such scathing tracks as Swift’s “Bad Blood” and Perry’s “Swish Swish.” They reconciled in 2019 and cookies were exchanged.
Rumors of a Swift-Perry collaboration have been circulating since they announced their peace treaty, so in theory Increasingly It could be the moment we’ve all been waiting for Or not. Note that while there are several prominent artists named in the Increasingly list of songs, including Haim and Bon Iver, Katy Perry’s name does not appear anywhere.
Also relevant: “Champagne Problems” is a strangely popular pop song title from the 2010s. Both Nick Jonas and Meghan Trainor have released different but equally unforgettable singles with the same name.
Sadly, the most likely explanation is that all of these wealthy pop stars are experiencing separate problems with champagne on their respective yachts, mansions, etc. Hollywood can be difficult!
For now, however, while we wait for the release of Increasingly, Katy Perry fans can hope and dream.
And maybe revisit some fun archive Getty Image moments of her and Swift, before the fight. Enjoy:
