Destiny 2 will open cross-platform play in 2021

Bungie’s online space shooter Destiny 2 So far in his life, he has cornered his community by platform and has not allowed the players of one system to join (or play against) those of others.

That seems to be changing next year. Bungie announced that it plans to launch crossplay for Destiny 2 in 2021, although the exact details on how it will look are clear.

This all comes after Bungie released a cross save system last year that allowed players to jump between multiple platforms and use the same characters and inventory on each one. Before that, progression was locked platform by platform.

However, it is not known when the crossover game will launch in 2021, nor is it mentioned how it will work for gamers set up in their isolated worlds on PC, Stadia and PlayStation / Xbox consoles.

It will be a welcome change as cross-platform gaming has become the norm in recent years, but, as other online games can attest, merging groups of players into competitive games can present a delicate balancing act for developers.
