The arrival of Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 5 included a launch trailer, and unsurprisingly, players have selected that launch material for clues as to what might be destined to arrive in the coming weeks. One of those items players noticed is a new shotgun, but it seems like it’s not the only weapon that may be arriving soon.
The new Fortnite The season introduced something called exotic weapons, which players can buy from NPCs using the gold bars that drop when players die and certain materials are collected. It appears that Epic has plans to introduce a lot of exotic weapons this season, at least based on the filenames found by the game’s data miner FortTory.
The leaked weapon names reveal a variety of exotic weapons, as well as other items in rare to epic rarities. We may not see all of these items eventually ending up in the game, but the discovery suggests what Epic may have planned regarding this season’s loadout.
Among the discoveries is a western shotgun (possibly the one seen in the image above), as well as a ‘shotgun twist’, which is too ambiguous to decipher. Perhaps the most interesting discovery was the mention of a new melee weapon: a heavy sword, one that will presumably be much less powerful than the last sword we got in the game.
Lastly, a Dragon Breath Sniper rifle is mentioned, which apparently appeared in the launch trailer, and a Frozen SMG, which is possibly something that will arrive during this year’s Winterfest event. However, only time will tell how many of these weapons will eventually make their way into the game.
