How to earn gold bars (and what they are for)

Fortnite Season 5 features Gold Bars that players can earn in many ways and can be spent on NPCs to obtain valuable weapons and items.

Chapter 2 Season 5 of Fortnite It is one of the most ambitious seasons yet due to the innovative new features it implements, one of which is the new gold bullion coin. Unlike V-Bucks, players can earn an unlimited amount of gold bars for free by completing recovery tasks during rounds of Fortnite. Gold cannot be spent outside of rounds of Fortnite, but it can give players an advantage in battle if players know how to use it.

One of the best facets of gold is that, like V-Bucks, they carry over from game to game. While players can only earn gold while in a Fortnite round, the gold earned in the last round carries over. In games like Call of Duty: War Zone, players start with new currency each round, but Fortnite allows players to store their gold for when they really need it. This guide will teach players how they can get gold bars and what they can spend them on Fortnite.

Gold bars can be earned in various ways in different amounts. Actions as simple as opening furniture or cash registers will give players small amounts of gold as they complete in-game challenges and the rewards will reward players with large amounts. Players can also find safes in the chest spawn locations that will drop 100 gold bars when opened. Also, gold bars are removed each time a player is eliminated. The fastest way to earn large amounts of gold bars quickly is by locating a passive NPC and accepting quests or rewards. When these missions or rewards are completed, players will earn gold, but each mission and reward has a time limit in which they must be completed.

Players can use accumulated gold bars by talking to passive NPCs. Each NPC acts as an in-game shop where players can exchange gold bars for weapons and healing items. Not all NPCs will have an item for sale, and the items they offer are random. Items or weapons will vary in cost depending on their rarity and utility. Gold can only be spent on NPC items and has no use outside of rounds of Fortnite.
