The launch of Warzone / Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s The first season is just around the corner, and with it a new map. Activision announced the news in a blog post detailing the six-day delay of season 1 to December 16.
Until now, it was not clear if War zones The map would remain pretty much the same if some Black Ops themed locations were added, or if there was a new map on the cards. I’m certainly happy it’s the latter. There’s nothing wrong with the current map, and the gradual changes could have been fun too, but even good things get old after a while. A new map is a welcome change.
At this point, we don’t have any details on what the new map will look like, but it’s safe to assume that multiple locations from the campaign and multiplayer will appear. I hope we get a lot of environmental variety, something that is missing from the current Warzone map. Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s The campaign is full of lush jungles and snow-covered cliffs. Having a Battle Royale map with that kind of variety would definitely be a nice change.
We know the Gulag will return. This means that in normal Battle Royale, dying will give you a second chance when fighting your way out of the Gulag. However, Activision notes that this is a “new Gulag experience” that is interesting.
30 Black Ops Cold War weapons and blueprint variants will also be added to Warzone, which should help liven things up at the top of the new map. We’ll finally see how Activision and their studios will integrate the two games, something I’ve been very curious about since we found out about all this. Warzone will have a new map and lots of new weapons, but it will still be compatible with Modern Warfare’s arsenal and operators and will run on that game’s engine.
We will discover more in the coming days. According to Activision, “Between December 7 and 16, please expect the lines of communication to be open as we preview numerous items from Season One, showcasing the massive expansion of incoming content.”
There will also be several additional updates ahead of the Season 1 release, paving the way for the first season to begin.
