Chicago Weather: Snow expected in Northwest Indiana, including La Porte County, some possible in the city on Monday

CHICAGO (WLS) – Some snow is expected in parts of the Chicago area on Monday, and high winds are creating flood advisories along the lake.

Light snow may accumulate in Chicago Monday morning and afternoon, but the snow will primarily accumulate in northwestern Indiana later in the day, said ABC 7 Chicago meteorologist Greg Dutra.

Some belts could produce 5 to 6 inches of snow, he said. La Porte County is expected to receive more rainfall.

La Porte, Marshall, St. Joseph, and Starke counties in Indiana are under Winter storm watch from 11:32 am EST on Sunday to 9 am EST on Tuesday.

Strong winds will raise wave heights on Lake Michigan, causing flood warnings from northern Cook County to northwestern Indiana, Dutra said.

In central and northern Cook County, a Lakeside Flood Warning It is in effect from 9:42 am on Sunday to 6 am on Tuesday.

In La Porte County, a Lakeside Flood Warning It is in effect from 11:06 am EST until 5 pm EST on Tuesday.

In Lake and Porter Counties in Indiana, a Lakeside Flood Warning it is also in effect from 10:42 am EST on Sunday to 1 pm EST on Tuesday.
