Addis Ababa, November 24, 2020 – The federal government of Ethiopia has condemned the atrocities committed by TPLF in Maikadra.

“The findings of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission on the grave human rights violations perpetrated by the TPLF forces in Maikadra are heartbreaking. The report is a confirmation of the previous Amnesty International report on the same incident. ” the government said in a statement.

The world has once again witnessed the heinous crimes Ethiopia has to endure from the TPLF criminal clique, the statement said.

As the Commission confirmed, “the Maikadra attack is not a simple criminal act but a serious, premeditated and carefully coordinated human rights violation.”

The Commission’s finding confirms that local TPLF security forces, in collaboration with a TPLF youth group called ‘Samri’, killed hundreds of people with full intention, plan and preparation as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against a civilian population.

As reported by the Commission, these are “serious human rights violations that may constitute crimes against humanity and war crimes.”

We urge the international community to condemn these heinous acts of crimes against humanity and their perpetrators in unequivocal terms. The Government will spare no effort to bring those responsible to justice.
