The new Mac mini with the M1 chip has been around for some time and while the machine impresses with its amazing performance, it is also causing problems for some users. More specifically, there are users who complain about Bluetooth connectivity problems with the new M1 Mac mini.
YouTuber Patrick Tomasso is one of those users who has trouble using Bluetooth accessories with the new Mac mini. As you describe in a video on your channel, using a Bluetooth mouse on your Mac mini M1 is nearly impossible as the connection is lost all the time.
According to Tomasso, he has already tried using Mac mini with Logitech MX Master 3 and Magic Mouse 2, but “they all cut off intermittently” during use. You also experienced issues with the Bluetooth connection when pairing AirPods Pro and other wireless accessories with your Mac.
There are also other users with similar complaints on Reddit. According to one of the reports shared there, the M1 Mac mini doesn’t recognize the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard at all, rendering the machine unusable.
I am using the Logitech Mx keypad and MX Master 3 mouse. On first boot, it would not recognize the keyboard or mouse as available for pairing via Bluetooth. I used a wired keyboard and mouse to complete the setup. After that I was able to pair both, and they work great. However, every time I reboot the machine, I cannot log in because the keyboard and mouse are not connected.
The reasons behind these connectivity issues are unknown, as this could be a software bug or a hardware malfunction. Apple has yet to acknowledge the problem, and unfortunately there are no workarounds for this other than using a third-party Bluetooth receiver.
