This year’s event will also feature a youth choir collaboration with the release of an original music video from the Africaid Zvandiri Youth Choir in Zimbabwe and the SpeakUp SingOut SUSO Youth Choir in County Kildare.

For more than 50 years, Tullamore-born Professor Michael J. Kelly has worked tirelessly in the fight against HIV / AIDS in his naturalized country of Zambia, and internationally, spreading the message of strength, dignity and hope for the affected and at risk.

Much has been learned about the response to the COVID-19 pandemic from years of experience treating HIV and AIDS, both in terms of community engagement and leadership.

With increased risks of infection for people in certain groups, including in healthcare settings and among vulnerable groups, knowledge about HIV stigma, testing, treatment and prevention programs can be harnessed as we come together in solidarity in the face of this global pandemic.

It is important to remember that HIV and AIDS have not disappeared. And more than ever, we must call on all communities to redouble their efforts so that the progress made so far is not eroded. An important learning from the response to HIV is that it is a true global health challenge, which like COVID-19 knows no borders.

We will hear from speakers in Ethiopia, South Africa, Ireland and Switzerland; This year’s speakers will come from a variety of backgrounds, but they all have one common goal: solidarity against HIV in their communities.
