Last week, Twitter began rolling out its fleeting tweet features, Fleet, to all users around the world. However, just a few days later, an error was reported on Twitter, causing the fleets to show up even after 24 hours. The bug allowed other users to view and download fleets, without notifying the fleet author, reported TechCrunch. Twitter has reportedly acknowledged the issue and says it is working on a fix for the bug.
“We are aware of a bug that can be accessed through a technical fix where some Fleets media URLs may be accessible after 24 hours. We are working on a fix that should be implemented shortly,” said Twitter the spokesman said.
On November 18, Twitter Fleets began rolling out globally. The feature echoes similar features by Snapchat, Facebook Y Instagram. The company says that ephemeral tweets, which it calls’ Fleet ‘due to their fleeting nature, are designed to allay new users’ concerns that they might be turned off by the permanent, public nature of normal tweets. Twitter began testing this feature in June.
Fleets cannot be retweeted and will not be liked. People can reply to them, but replies appear as direct messages to the original tweeter, not as a public reply, making any round trip a private conversation rather than a public discussion.
To see the fleet posted by others, you will have to swipe up, however to see the fleet of the next person, you will have to swipe horizontally. There is a “tag” as an option in Fleet called “Reply by DM” that will allow users to reply via direct messages. In addition to this, you can also reply to these fleets with an emoji.
