Marvel’s infamous big bad Galactus is coming to Fortnite thanks to a Chapter 2: Season 4 crossover event taking place in December.
The massive planet-eating villain will finally see him arrive in a final Nexus War one-time live event that’s scheduled to kick off. December 1, 2020 at 1 pm PT / 4 pm ET / 9 pm GMT.
Galactus arrives as part of the latest in a series of Marvel x Fortnite crossovers that have been ongoing throughout Fortnite Season 4: Chapter 2.
Developer Epic Games hasn’t shared too much information, but we’ve been given a little rundown on how we can prepare for the event.
“Galactus is approaching the island and the fate of all reality is in balance,” notes the developer. Interesting.
It has yet to be determined whether Galactus will destroy the map (similar to last year’s black hole event) or simply trigger some major changes in space, similar to Chapter 2, the flood of Season 2.
As is customary with these events, Epic recommends that players eager to see everything in action log into Fortnite at least 60 minutes prior to the start of the event, and that the event playlist be activated 30 minutes prior to the times listed above. .
The official Fortnite Y Wonderful Twitter accounts have been sharing elements of the story related to Galactus’ presence in the Fortnite universe, and you can read more about the Fortnite: Chapter 2 Season 4 comic teasers at the link.
Also, don’t expect this to be the end of Fortnite x Marvel content in the game. As Eurogamer discovered, Epic Games Creative Director Donald Mustard outlined the future of the game on a recent podcast, suggesting that the Marvel crossover will have an impact for months and years.
“The reason we call this season Nexus War is that this is just the beginning of many things that we have planned over many years of Marvel integration,” Mustard explained in an appearance on the official This Week in Marvel podcast.
“This is not the end, this is the beginning. We thought of a really cool POV style character who could set this up [earlier this year] It was Deadpool, a kind of fourth wall breaking. And then Cap in July, building up to this point … “
And there is more to come as well. Expect to hear more soon and see the foundations for the future of the game laid down with this incoming event.
