Apple quietly rolled out the long-awaited MagSafe Stand Leather Case on Friday for all new iPhone 12 models, completing the launch of a MagSafe accessory line announced in October.
Apple introduced Leather Sleeve at last month’s iPhone event and promised to launch the accessory before the end of the year.
Priced at $ 129 for all models, the case is made from smooth “specially tanned and finished European leather” that develops a natural patina over time. The case is designed to fit like a glove on iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Max, offering protection against scratches and drops. Inside is a card slot, while the accompanying strap is removable.
When inserted, the iPhone 12 displays the time through a cutout in the case, with the font color of the digital clock matching that of the case. It’s a nice touch enabled by MagSafe’s NFC capabilities.
A MagSafe accessory, Apple’s leather case allows for precise positioning of the MagSafe charging pad for efficient wireless charging. Like the company’s other leather case designs, consistent use of MagSafe accessories will result in “light fingerprints,” Apple says.
The leather case with MagSafe is offered in four colors: Baltic Blue, Citrus Pink, Saddle Brown and (Product) RED, and is available to order from the Apple Store online. Current shipping times are set from December 16-23 with free service or from December 15 with express shipping.
