The governments of China and France clearly understand that the ongoing campaign in the regional state of Tigray is a law enforcement operation and an internal affair, Ethiopian ambassadors to the countries said.
Speaking to ENA, the ambassadors said that the governments of China and France have taken clear positions realizing that the operation aims to enforce the rule of law in the region.
The federal government launched a police operation following the attack by the TPLF junta on the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF).
The Ethiopian ambassadors in China and France have informed ENA about the activities they have carried out to explain the operation in the regional state of Tigray.
Ethiopia’s ambassador to China Teshome Toga said the embassy has established a temporary working group to explain about the ongoing police operation.
Accordingly, briefings have been provided to Chinese government officials, investors, East Africans living in China and the Ethiopian diaspora and students living in China, he added.
The Chinese government has clearly understood that the measure is intended to enforce the rule of law and does not require the intervention of a third party.
He also said that China expects the law enforcement operation to last in a short period.
Chinese investors in Ethiopia have been assured that their employees and infrastructure are being protected and that the operation targets select locations, Ambassador Teshome said.
Ethiopia’s ambassador to France, Spain and Portugal, Henok Tefera, said for his part that the French Foreign Ministry, members of parliament and other executive bodies have been informed about the recent police operation.
International organizations and the media in France, as well as Ethiopians living in the countries, were also informed.
As a result, the French government has clearly understood the content and purpose of the operation, as well as the TPLF’s efforts to internationalize the conflict.
