The National Council Office for the Coordination of Public Participation in the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) has revealed that it has raised 155 million Birr in the month of October alone to support the construction and completion of the dam.

Hailu Abraham, Director of Public Relations and Media Communications for the office, told The Ethiopian Herald that the public has increased their support for the construction of the dam, particularly after the completion of the first fill.

The Bureau has managed to raise 152 million and more than 197 million Birr in August and September, respectively.

The dam is the reflection of the unity of the people and the sovereignty of the country, he said, adding that the participation of the diaspora community has also shown an improvement both financially and in the diplomatic sphere. The first fill of the dam has also increased the confidence of the dam.

He has also called on all Ethiopians living at home and abroad to actively participate in the petition signing process to protest Trump’s reckless comment on GERD.
