The other candidates for Game of the Year are Doom Eternal (which has four nominations in total), Final Fantasy VII Remake (six), Tsushima ghost (seven), indie title hell (eight and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Three). Several of this year’s viral hits, including Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, Among us Y Genshin Impact – also received multiple nominations.
Some of the most prominent games of 2020 are in dispute in other categories, including Half Life: Alyx, Microsoft Flight Simulator Y FIFA 21. There are many independent titles among the nominees, including Carrion, Phasmophobia, Spelunky 2 Y Spiritfarer.
There are also nominations for games that have just been released, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Y Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, each of which has two nominations. Some titles that have been around for a while are nominated for awards in the Ongoing Gaming, Esports, Community Support, and Multiplayer categories. Among them are Fortnite, Nobody’s heaven, Destiny 2 Y Apex legends.
Voting is now open for this year’s Game Awards, which will air live on December 10.
