If you’re a long-time Android Auto user, you’ve probably already realized that occasional bugs are pretty common, and that what works well today could be completely broken tomorrow.
This seems to be the case for an important feature of Android Auto, as some users discovered the hard way that it is now impossible to listen to new messages received on Telegram.
And it’s all due to an error they get when tapping the notification popup that appears when a new message arrives. “Tyour application is not supported,”Android Auto explains the audio error, even though Telegram works fine on the head unit.
“When I receive a Telegram message while using AA in my car, the notification appears on the car infotainment screen. However, when I touch the notification to have the message read aloud, the voice says “This application is not supported.” However, sending Telegram messages via voice command works,”Says a user on the Google forums. Others have also confirmed similar issues with Telegram on Android Auto.
While a recent update is believed to be what caused the problems, the good news is that Google has already started investigating the issue and therefore a fix could be released at some point in the future.
On the other hand, you should be aware that no other details have been provided, so you better not expect the solution to be part of the next Android Auto update.
There is no known workaround at this time, and it is unclear if downgrading to an older version of the app will bring things back to normal.
The latest version of Android Auto is 5.8, and it introduces additional bug fixes, while paving the way for more important new features, like wallpaper support. The next update of the application is expected in early December as the last version of the year.
