Skunkape Games will release a remastered version of Telltale’s first episodic series, Sam & Max Save the World, for Nintendo Switch and PC on December 2. The game can be reserved starting today.

Sam & Max Season One, a six-part adventure, was widely considered the first successful episodic game when it was originally released in 2006 and 2007. Skunkape Games, a small independent developer made up of former Telltale Games employees, acquired the rights after Telltale. closed in 2018.

Created by comic book artist Steve Purcell, Sam and Max are a six-foot canine detective and hyperkinetic bunny who dispenses their own form of comic justice as the Independent Police.

In Sam & Max Save the World, the dynamic duo investigates a hypnosis plot spinning to global proportions to involve child stars, the media, the mob, the US government, the internet, and the bright side of Moon. A wacky story, brain-tickling puzzles, eccentric characters, and eccentric humor deliver a casual gaming experience that was billed as “the first video game sitcom” on its original release.

Sam & Max Save the World Remastered addresses issues with compressed graphics and sound and more. Revised graphics, gamepad support, restored audio, and numerous additions and tweaks make it to the remastering.

All day on December 31, anyone who owns the original Sam & Max Season One on Steam or GOG will receive a 50% discount on Sam & Max Save the World Remastered. People who originally purchased the game from the Telltale website can claim a Steam or GOG key through the Skunkape website.
