NASA selects 17 US companies for lunar technologies

Paris, November 10, 2020. – NASA selected 17 companies to further develop lunar technologies, announced the US space agency.

NASA selected 17 US companies for 20 partnerships to mature industry-developed space technologies for the Moon and beyond through the 2020 Space Technology Mission Directorate Collaborative Opportunity Announcement, the agency said.

The selected proposals are relevant to the thematic areas of technology described in the application, including the management and propulsion of cryogenic fluids; advanced propulsion; sustainable energy; production of propellants and consumables on site; smart / resilient systems and advanced robotics; advanced materials and structures; entry, descent and landing; and small spacecraft technologies.

The selections will result in Space Law Agreements between the companies and NASA. NASA will work with the companies to provide expertise and access to the agency’s unique test facilities. The total estimated value of the agency’s resources to support the deals is about $ 15.5 million, NASA said.

The list of companies includes Rocket Lab, SpaceX and Space Systems Loral (Maxar).
