It seems like every week there is a new trailer for the Demon’s Souls remake. Why shouldn’t there be? Despite the general hype from fans who adored the original and yearned to play it since they first played Dark Souls, I think it’s still a pretty niche title. One that is somewhat risky to release because it is attracting a demographic called “hardcore.” Spider-Man: Miles Morales is on the table too, but it seems we’ve been seeing a lot more of Demon’s Souls. It’s not that anyone is complaining, it seems like an absolutely tremendous game.
The 12-minute video shows more of the game’s fighting and enemies, with Sony Interactive Entertainment Creative Director Gavin Moore narrating it. He goes into a great deal of depth, but some of the biggest nuggets to take out of the trailer are the unchanged enemy AI, 3D audio functionality, and the implementation of haptic feedback.
According to Moore, the actual underlying code of enemy and world behavior hasn’t completely changed, meaning that if you still have low muscle memory from playing Demon’s Souls on PS3, you won’t have to relearn the enemy’s movements. The 3D audio will ensure that you don’t get stabbed in the back unexpectedly and the haptic feedback should make the sound of the sword against the shield more tangible than ever. Supposedly. I’m going for the trailer and you know you shouldn’t completely trust those bastards.
Demon’s Souls will be released alongside PlayStation 5 on November 19 for us and November 10 for some very lucky countries. It sucks that we have to wait nine more days to finally get our hands on Demon’s Souls, but at least all the cheat guides and videos will be ready, right?
