An unauthorized third party managed to gain access to Capcom’s internal systems during a recent cyber attack, the company confirmed.
In a brief statement, the Japanese developer and publisher explained that the attack took place “in the early hours of the morning of November 2, 2002” and that it appears to have targeted both your email and your file servers.
“Some of the Capcom Group networks experienced problems that affected access to certain systems, including email and file servers,” the statement read. “The company has confirmed that this was due to unauthorized access by a third party, and that it has paralyzed some operations of its internal networks as of November 2.”
Capcom said there is no evidence that customer information has been breached and that the incident did not affect its online gaming systems or various websites.
He is currently working with the police and other related perpetrators to investigate the matter and is taking steps to restore their systems. An update will be issued when more information is released.
