Netflix seems to fully agree with the concept of video game properties becoming TV series on the streaming platform.
The Witcher was a huge hit for Netflix, and it was recently announced that they are returning to the realm of game adaptations with a new Assassin’s Creed series that is in development.
In a surprise announcement, Sony reveals more about the PlayStation 5 launching for the 2020 holiday season
One game franchise long rumored to receive a film or television adaptation has been Sony’s God of War. The fantastic high-action settings of these titles have led many to believe in the past that they could be a huge summer blockbuster.
But with all the streaming companies fighting for our attention span, it seems like a streaming service could become home to a live-action adaptation of God of War.
Google denies claims that Stadia is the Netflix of video games; Compare it more to PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold
Industry insider Daniel Richtman has stated that Netflix is very interested in a God of War TV show. There had been some previous rumors that feature film talks were going on, with Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista attached as Kratos and Ares.
But God of War director Cory Barlog has in the past expressed his desire to see God of War adapted into a Netflix-style television series rather than a movie.
God.
From.
War.(At least I think so)

In January, when asked the hypothetical question of which game IPs would lend themselves to a Netflix-style series, Barlog responded in the tweet featured above.
“This is not a hint or anything,” he continued. “I just think games would make great TV shows because you spend a lot of time with the characters in fantastic worlds. Games, like television, are like relationships with characters, where movies are more like a date. “
It seems like television would be a much better fit for video games, which are so immersive and immerse you in the world of these characters. You normally spend between 20 and 30 hours in a game. It’s not easy to compile all of that into a two or three hour narrative, like you would in a movie.
Other studies have also followed Netflix’s lead that game properties could be the future. HBO is currently developing an original series for The Last of Us franchise, which, like God of War, is exclusive to the Sony PlayStation. That series is being overseen by Chernobyl writer Craig Maizin and The Last of Us game director Neil Druckmann.
Some of Ubisoft’s creative minds have also joined as executive producers on Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed project.
The price of the PlayStation 5 is reported to be as high as the $ 500 price range
So not only could we see God of War on the small screen, but it’s possible that Barlog and his team have some kind of role in it.
