The 25-year-old is on the sidelines for another period after the detection of complications with his state of health.
Danish club Vejle has withdrawn Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena from team commitments due to a relapse of heart disease.
On loan from Spanish La Liga Levante, the 25-year-old was looking to make a big comeback this season after a similar health problem cut short a loan from Real Zaragoza in the Spanish second division last season.
He has made five league appearances for newly promoted club Vejle and scored two goals.
“Following the club’s promotion to the 3F Superligaen, Vejle Boldklub signed a contract with Raphael Dwamena,” the Danish side had announced on their official website.
“The Ghanaian attacker arrived in Norreskoven after a heart operation in January, where the 25-year-old attacker was implanted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator.”
“This has been continuously monitored by Vejle Boldklub health staff and medical team during commissioning, on training ground and during club matches.
“There has been only one case where Raphael Dwamena’s cutoff values when monitoring the heart have been too high, and this unfortunately also means that Vejle Boldklub must now take Dwamena off the field.”
It is the third time that Dwamena’s career has been affected by his heart disease. In 2017, the Nkawkaw-born had a transfer to the Premier League’s Brighton and Hove Albion canceled for allegedly failing a medical exam in relation to his heart condition.
“I am really grateful for the opportunity Vejle Boldklub gave me to play football again. Now they have taken me off the field and I am under medical supervision,” said the forward.
“Despite not being able to be on the pitch, I still want to help the club achieve its goals. Therefore, I would also like to tell my teammates, staff and fans that I am proud to be part of Vejle. Boldklub Family” .
A product of the Red Bull Salzburg academy, Dwamena joined Swiss FC Zurich in 2017 after an impressive loan period with Lustenau in the Austrian second division.
In the summer of 2018, he moved to Spain to join Levante.
“That now there has been a case where the limit values have been too high, we must, based on a professional assessment of the health as a club, take the consequence. Therefore, Raphael is taken off the field”, said the technical director by Vejle, Jacob Kruger. He said.
“We are sorry, of course, on behalf of Raphael, but the parties have been aware from the beginning of the consequence that would have been the case if Raphael’s monitoring had exceeded the limit values in the measurement.
“Raphael Dwamena has demonstrated in his short time at Vejle Boldklub a great human format, a professional approach to his profession and a desire to learn from it towards our young players. Now we will help Raphael in the new situation.”
Dwamena is a senior international for Ghana, scoring two goals in his debut in an African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying match against Ethiopia in 2017.
